Hello everyone and welcome! Since finishing my athletic career, I’ve always wanted to create an online space where I can share my experiences and lessons I’ve learned with others and open up the conversation about topics like motivation, nutrition, training and so much more. I enjoy writing and want to use this space to dive deeper into what it takes to be an elite athlete and to help athletes with challenges they may be facing.
I’d love to hear from you if there’s a topic that you want to hear about. I hope you enjoy the page!
xo, Mariya
After moving to the United States from Russia I took up synchronized swimming, which started my whirlwind journey through elite training, college, and competing at two Olympic Games.
As a synchronized swimmer I competed on the club, collegiate, and elite levels. I primarily swam in the duet and team events.
If you have any questions for me or suggestions of topics you want to hear about, leave me a message or contact me via social media.
Let’s talk about nutrition during the quarantine. You may not be training for as long as you’re used to, plus we are all staying inside our houses so we’re not moving around as much as we normally would. I decided to bring back former synchro athlete and Registered Dietitian Katie Spada to help navigate us through this topic. I asked Katie a few questions about whether athletes should change their diet during quarantine and the proper way to fuel for training.
